Dane-Elec So G Stream - media player

Hi all,

Just see a email with this product in my inbox.
Looks really good for a media player with full options.

HDMI , fiber optical , usb , cardreader, cinch , wifi and ethernet.

Are there people with having experience with this box.

I think , that with little more (20-30 euro) is better a Western digital device like this

I read somewhere that the 2 devices use the same processor ad stuff.

I do not have any experience with the device. But it is lacking support for HD.

So, if you have your DVD collection stored on your NAS box then this device will happily play them back, but anything more esoteric will be a struggle. Most importantly, it doesn't support the essential HD codecs, VC-1 and h.264 so nearly all HD media is out of the question, despite the fact that the G Stream can play files at up to 1080i resolutions (this in itself is a failing compared to the competition which can play 1080p). In this day and age, this nobbled HD support is a fundamental failing.
