Ipod ip camera

Post by Kroonen »

Hi,

I want to buy an ip camera as babyphone. I want to use an ipod/iphone as client.

I see this one on marktplaats http://link.marktplaats.nl/311076719

Any idea of this is a goed one or what type works well with the ipod/iphone.

regards

For viewing on the Iphone/Ipod Touch you will need a application.

I'm using Cam Viewer on my Iphone.
In the Cam Viewer there is support for lot of cameras.

What is the brand of this camera..IPCAM??
If you don't know the brand it will be a challenge to find the correct application.

If by babyphone you mean video+AUDIO, then yes you'll probably need a specific app, I don't think it'll work from the browser on the iPhone. If it's just to monitor some video, the web-browser+bookmark would be fine.

I've come across this generic brand ip camera several times on the web, but never with any decent sample images from it... Should you come across a couple, be sure to post the link in here, then I'll add the camera to the camera repository of the forum.

One more thing to maybe keep in mind: Some PTZ cameras make a fair bit of noise, I don't know if you intend to use this to monitor e.g. a baby, but the PTZ noise might wake him up if he's a light sleeper...

Well i asked for the brand and app

here is the answer

EYE SIGHT TECHNOLOGY CO.Ltd

Is it just if the cam supports mjpeg it works????? Ip Vision Pro is expensive, but you think cam viewer also supports it?

http://www.ttrix.com/ipvisionpro.html

-Looks like IP Vision Pro doesn't support sound either.
-There is a stupid AT&T/Apple imposed limit of usage of three minutes when using 3G.
-20eur for the app is a little much just to watch a cam... especially when it comes with limitations like mentioned above.

From what I understand the program works with cameras that do M-JPEG over HTTP. The PTZ control is not supported for just any camera, but I suppose that the 'shop' you want to buy it from has tested that the PTZ works with IP Vision Pro?

There is no support for this camera in the CAM Viewer Iphon/Ipod Touch application
Maybe the manual add option will work.
Also no support for the PTZ in the CAM Viewer.
I have the Y-cam quality is good and works for sure on the Iphone
There is also sound ..works in IE, Quicktime and VLC

I mailed the support of cam viewer and here is the answer

-----
I'm not familiar with the range of cameras that you have mentioned, however from a quick look at the website it appears the demonstration cameras all require ActiveX components in order to view the camera images. This typically means that the camera does not provide standards-based connection methods (like JPEG or MJPEG) to view the images, but rather relies on propriatery ActiveX plugins to view the images on a Windows web browser. In most of these cases this means that cameras that work this way don't support the connection methods required to work with our Cam Viewer software.

If you happen to know whether the cameras provide a still JPEG image without requiring the ActiveX plugin to be installed then we could provide a more definitive answer to your query; perhaps this is something that your user manual or the company's technical support area might be able to assist in answering. If it turns out that JPEG support is indeed provided by these cameras then please let me know as we should be able to manually configure Cam Viewer to work with the cameras in this instance.
----------

So if I understand it right a cam should work if it doesn't require activeX and so is platform independent

I'm going to ask if there is a demo model so I can test it and I can write a review in here.
