Very old power meter

I apologize beforehand if my question is already answered somewhere. Because it feels like the answer could be available, but I'm just not able to find it. And I promise I've looked & searched :-P.

Like everyone else, I want to start measuring our total power usage. To set the baseline, hoping we will be saving in the near future :D. But we have this very old power meter (or should I say ancient...). The black bakelite type with only a simple counter and a turning disc with red marker (the disc is a short distance behind a plastic window). My question is simpel: is the RFXPulse able to count the passings of the red marker? I'm almost assuming it will, but I just want to be sure. Anyone experience with this setup?
Tanks in advance,

It has been done using the optical reflective sensor and the RFXPulse by Ed: http://www.domotica.famschenk.eu/Meterkast.html
Another option is to use the RFXPwr.

Thanks. The setup with the RFXPulse looks quite clean. I assume this uses the Reflective-Optical sensor? With both a LED and a photo-sensor? Is this included with an RFXPulse module, or should I order it seperately?

The 70095 contains: RFXMeter, Power adapter, RFXPulse http://www.rfxcom.com/sensors.htm#70095

The reflective optical sensor must be ordered http://www.rfxcom.com/sensors.htm#70091

I would definitely recommend the RFXPwr. It was very easy to hook up (just clamp to your phase) and your ready to go.

My gas meter doesn't have a reflective pad on the zero and I found it very difficult to get correct readings. Even now I'm still missing halve of my gas usage. (But must admit, didnt work on it anymore). Im guessing this is even more difficult.
