Sony PCS-C160P

Post by smst »

Hi,

Does anyone know how to connect the Sony PCS-C160P to a PC? Or, use it as a video camera/webcam?

Appreciate your help,

He Dude,
That's funny, I have that exact camera!

I got it working on RS232 with full pan tilt and zoom.
I don't use the camera anymore at the moment, because I have other Sony EVI-D30 as well.
The Sony EVI-D30 is internal the same camera as the Sony PCS-160P.
What you should do is dismount the camera from the Video conferencing unit, there is a lot of crap in there like ISDN connection etc you don't want to use. After you disconnect the Camera you see 2 connectors:

You need the 15 pin connector, with this connector you can handle Video, Power and Visca control (PTZ) the RS232 protocol is the same as the SONY EVI-D30, EVI-70 or EVI-D100.

If you need more info on which pins to use let me know, I have to search for the connector, can't find it right now because of the mess in my room [:D]
If you want I a got a PDF file with all the technical specifications.
