reboot laptop via relay ?

Post by s8utt »

Anyone ever made / bought a circuit that could reboot a laptop ?

I need the relay to operate as

Closed for 10 seconds
Open for 5 seconds
Closed for 1 second
Open

This will power off the laptop and then power it back on.
The reason for this is the dam think keeps crashing and I want to reset it remotely, if I can hardwire the power button to a relay and have a relay perform the above I can reset it.

I could wire it to an remote controlled socket so power would be provided, I was thinking of dusting off my electronics books and putting together a few 555 timers but I'd thought i'd ask if there was a already built solution ?

Thanks

You can use any appliance module that can switch power such as X10, KlikAanKlikUit, HE modules.
Some have an interface available to that you can program to send out series of commands without the need of a other PC or home automation software.
