So the mct-302 works like a charm, so now i wanted to add that external contact.. but why does it have 4 wires? am i missing something here?

I ordered this some time ago (really long time ago) so i can only remember that i got it from waakzaamwonen, as the contact that is suppose to go with the mct-302.

Anyway, a picture says more always..
Cant see any text on the 4 wires, so dunno which ones to take.. anyone else has this too?

If I remember correctly the MCT302 external contact input can be configured for NC and NO. So with a multimeter you should measures what the behaviour of your external contact is in relation to the wires and then you which wires you should pick.

true, but my multimeter battery ran out so i cant test it.. i got tons of battery's laying in the house, except the 9 volts..

I think you need a resistor too,
The other two wires are for security, normally they always need to be connected. if they are cut you can trigger an alarm.
You don't need them I guess.
Keep in mind that only one of the outputs has status update every 15 minutes, you can also weld it to the glass switch.
All depends on where you are going to use it for?

I only use 2 wires for the magnetic contact.

Btw, 9 volt batteries are in the smoke detectors

need to go to the supermarket now anyways.. so 9 volts is coming ;p

I got the same external ones from waakzaamwonen, in my case they where twisted 2 by 2 and just connected them straight without a resistor. Not at home, but when I can take look if it's apparent how it's twisted together....

well i got my battery for my multimeter, so i got the correct wires. then just changed the dip switches and all is working.

But do you have status reports every (Max) 15 minutes?

i dont see last change as "15 minutes interval" but i dont know if the plugin updates the last changed value time if there is no change in contact. It does show tamper/alert etc..

It does exactly what it means...
So when there is no change (a heartbeat is no "change" imo), the last changed value will not be updated.
And Homeseer doesn't have something like a "last received" or "last seen" field.
However the plugin does change the devicevalue (and therefore also the last changed) when a heartbeat hasn't been received within a configurable amount of time.

true, that option is set to 0. dont know how often they normally send it out, otherwise i can just fill in that value too at say 15 minutes? According to pieters remark?

Thats why it's better, if you use only on the contacts to put it on the first contact (magnet glass) this one has a heartbeat (status update). If you missed one status or your system was down etc. it will be corrected within 15 minutes.

I see an average heartbeat interval of just below 900 seconds (=15 minutes) , but i don't think it is wise to use this value cause every miss will result in communication failure. I would double it; but hey, i don't use this feature myself, so...
