Dear forum members,

Just facing a very strange problem with squeezebox server installad on a virtual machine.

Current setup :

Hp server
- running with small business server 2003.
- installed virtual box on the sbs 2003
- create a virtual machine with win xp
- installed squeezebox server on the win xp vm machine

Testing phase 1
- connect squeezebox server from a physical machine true website ( works okey)
- connect squeezebox server from a physical machine with squeeze player ( works okey)
- connect squeezebox server from a physical machine with softsqueeze( works okey)

On virtualbox
- create a virtual machine with win xp
- Install squeezeplayer
- install softsqueeze. ( java and java mp3 codec)

Testing phase II
- ping to squeezebox server ( works okey)
- open rdp session to squeezebox server ( works okey)
- connect squeezebox server from a vm machine true website ( works okey)
- connect squeezebox server from a vm machine with squeeze player ( Not working - can't connect squeezebox server)
- connect squeezebox server from a vm machine with softsqueeze( works okey)

Testing phase III
Disable all firewall settings on vm machine
- Same conclusion as testing phase II


Any ideas ...?

install a sniffer (like wireshark) on the VM and check if you receive any packets from the squeezeplayer

If you can reach the server with product A, but not with product B its a problem with that.
but the squeezeplayer, thats software too? (since squeezeplay is software) duet/boom/radio?

p.s. i had my squeezeserver installed on my NAS, in the end i just created a VM too (vmware) since it didn't synchronise my players correctly anymore..

That is false conclusion IMHO.

if the protocol is the same on how he reaches it, then you can use that. ofcourse there could be more factors in here, but lets wait till he gives some feedback.
