12V RGB spots

Hi,

I have a new 12V RGB (ms16 fitting) lamp that should cycle through several colors.
However when i attach it to a 12V car battery then it will only give green light and no color cycling.
The dealer tells me that i should use a ledtrafo for this what i think is nonsense.
I've attached it also to a stabilised power supply but the same effect.
Have anyone an idea why this happening?

Maybe the "ledtrafo" is making use of 50hz (comes with your 240AC), to do the timing for the color cycle?

That was my thought too but attaching it to a stable power supply don't solve it

A car battery is direct current (DC-'gelijkstroom') and so is a stabilized power supply.
You probably need alternating current (AC-'wisselstroom'). Mayby on the package it says what you need ('12V=' is direct current, 12V (with an S on it's side) is alternating current)

The box tells me '12V AC/DC'
I find that a bit wierd because a led, as a standalone component needs DC to work.
I am a bit reluctant to put 12V AC on it to try it out. It goes all against my instincts that i have build up with electronics in the past 30 years.

By connecting a AC source or a DC soource with a heavy 50Hz rimple the color cycling of the lamp starts.

Problem solved.
Thx for submitting your ideas.
