looking for smallest Z-wave dimmers or switches

I'm looking for small Z-wave dimmers of switches, everything I've seen so far is quite big. I used KAKU before, they have small micro switches which can be placed even behind your existing wallmounted switches. I pried open a Duwi ZW ES 1000 switch, just to see if it's just a big housing, and if I can get the circuitboard out and mount it inside a lamp armature. No luck, it has two pcb's, one for the electronics and manual switches, and one for the electric parts. There's a large condensor, a very large relais and an oversized fuse holder (holds 2 fuses, one spare). Choosing smaller parts can easily reduce this to half it's total size, but I can't find a manufacturer that's working on this. Weird, because Zensys claims to have a very small form factor RF module.
Maybe the Qees models will hold smaller parts, can't wait till they are available.

Maybe it's time for a DIY Z-wave micro PCB project?

Or maybe just wait a month or 2 for the Aeon-Labs In-Wall micro switches, next week we know more about the new products but they look and feel real great (I have a sample here what can be controlled over z-wave and by a normal switch, so you don' t need to replace all you current switches)

That sounds awesome.
Hope they will indeed be available in 2 months or so.

That's great News!
I was hoping to get some replies in this thread a while back.

Looking forward to any pictures :)

Here it is, smallest micro z-wave Smart Energy Switch. It can be locally controlled by a normal light switch so there is no need to buy complete new switches etc.

The device supports energy metering and push status to your z-wave controller.

Dimensions: 51x49x19mm

This one is only a (working) sample and the final one is in redesign because of some minor changes, as soon as the final version is available I'll send a newsletter and make a post here on the forum so keep coming back or sign up to our newsletter.

That actually looks quite big.
Hope it will fit in a normal round wallmount? (inbouwdoos).

These pictures are closeup's, size is 51x49x19mm and yes they fit well. But there is a little redesign in the connectors.

Hmm, looks like an interesting option to get on the Z-wave wagon ;)

Any idea when and if a european U-SNAP I/O controller will be available to use on my guruplug?

Are this engineering samples?

These are preproduction samples, some minor changes have to be made.

After SmartHomes 2010 fair I hope I can tell you some more.
