Hi,

I'm using this forum a lot and i'm mostley interested in Linux software for domotica. Isn't it useful to create a section linux under software? Than we have those topics for linux users for some help.

One of the reasons why i created the wiki, was because of this. You can always add more information to it. Too much information to place it on a single forum page. You can better instead try to add more information to the wiki yourself. The main page is locked, but all the other pages are not. If you need a modification on the main page or anything else i can always help out.

OK guy's
I made the forum Linux on request and was so free to make Binkey and Kroon moderators. With this option you can move the topics around among other things. Hope this is alright with you. if you need some topics moved to this place let me know it!

Thanks for buying the book, wish I could give it away free (Bruce Peren has explained to me how I could have done that after I wrote the book, c'est la vie!). The next one may go that way but thatdepends on whether Wiley wants to publish the next or not. It's part of the contract I signed.

My apologies if I'm overbearing, I'm a little hyper-active (I give 4 year old children a run for their money), it's raining (no 100k bicycle rides to burn off the excess energy), I'm on vacation (I don't relax well) and one of my passions is home automation.

The one thing I have come here to do is to learn about HA/Domotica in the rest of the world. Over the last few years a number of College students have contacted me to ask questions about Domotica (so far, the US, Canada, Brazil, Spain, Portugal, India, Bangladesh, Japan and China). I'd like to be able to give them a better reference than just the USA.

Well netherlands is pretty active, or at least the persons on the site here. We also have Xanura, a better version of x10, which is not in the usa. The rfxcom is also more in use here, compared to your w800 in the states. In 2 days, a bunch of people here will go to the national domotica day to get some inside info on the new gadgets. Also a nice project to check out is the dmx panels, and the door opener. Those projects are not widely seen on HA projects.

From what I have read Xanura == A10. I worked with ACT testing one of their A10 Keypad's. I liked them so much I purchased 2 (I have a total of 3). I really like ACT's products.

They're either in California or Florida. DMX looks interesting but anything to do with new wires will lower the SAF (Spouse Acceptance Factor). And since I just brought that back up (no X10 or Insteon had been working here for 6 months) I don't want to do anything that might lower it. When things are working my wife makes suggestions as to what to automated next.

Well my gf really likes the roomba, that was an easy buy. She dropped it down the stairs *YES!* so now i can get the new roomba

I'm using Project WISH for now, but not for long anymore. CM11 support is broken, yet easy to fix, but the mailing list has been quiet all year so I suppose it's abandoned.

Thanks for the info, LinuxHA. Now I can start browsing for an alternative.

In combination with zenah, you can do alot of tricks. But you do need some perl/linux knowledge for it. It does support the rfxcom, cm11, and xanura ctx35. And you can create your own modules for devices if needed (which can then be added to the repository) etc etc.. otherwise check the wiki.
