Deursensor

Post by labtec »

There are two options:

Visonic MCT-302 (For the Rfxcom you need the receiver 868 version)
Zwave door window sensor(like the Everspring Sm103) (for zwave you need a zwave receiver like the Aeonlabs USB stick)

Visonic is indeed very reliable.
20 m through 2 walls is OK here.

So I can use Zwave or Visonic components. In this case what is the best solution? I understand that when I want to use
Visonic I need a additional receiver in my USB RFXcom, and with Zwave I need a receiver USB stick.

Both will work fine.
In case of zwave you can associate the sensor directly to the device that you like to controle.
This means' door open lights on. It will also work when Homeseer or other software is not running.

Other benefit of zwave is that the protocol is using mash network.
This means that the sensore will use other zwave devices to reach the software or the device that you are going to control.
This way you can reach devices that are to far from you system.
This is called routing.

for a review of the Everspring SM103 see my blog.

OK, thanks! So I only buy an Zwave USB stick (receiver), the plug-in for HS is free? after that I can use all Zwave devices?

My PC running HS and the RFXcom receiver are on the first floor, is it for Zwave no problem to receive the signals
via the USB stick?

There is no need for a plugin.
In Homeseer there is support for zwave.

Beste is to have more than 1 zwave device. this will make you zwave network strong.
If you have a zwave device at every floor the signal will reach every device.

For more info about zwave check my blog. More zwave devices are reviewed.

@Tane

I have a quetion about z-wave
Will it also send back status like in this scenario.

A switch controls a lamp. Will the lamp signal back that it has recieved the command and is turn on?

Everspring SM103 will report te status
Also the Everspring plugin switch will report the status.

Wat zijn de ervaringen met onderstaande Z-wave receivers;

- ACT Homepro

- Tricklestar USB adapter

Heeft een bepaald model de voorkeur, mogelijkheden, bereik, etc?

Remember that Z-Wave devices form a mesh network, so range is not that important for your choice of dongle.
