VPN an Vmware

Post by TANE »

All the connections to my home network are setup via VPN
Always first VPN then Homeseer webserver or Hstouch, netcams..etc

I have virtualized my Homeseer machine to be more flexibel.
Since the virtulisahtion I can't acces the Homeseer any more from outside of my own netwerk using VPN.
All the other connections are working fine trough VPN, Camera, Nas..etc
Problem is that the Homeseer VM guest is running on the same server as the VPN machine.

- Main server (Macmini running Windows XP)
On this machine:
Vmware Server
MS VPN Dail In

Guest System Windows XP
-Homeseer
-Plugwise
Network is setup as bridge

All the subnets are same.
Firewall disable did not had any effect.

My thought would be that VMware injects a driver on the TCP/IP stack which is also used by the VPN software, which for certain also does the same thing. I would suggest to create a loopback adapter and bind that one to VMWare. Maybe that would be a possibility.

I would prefer to use the router for vpn entry, safer than a computer and more reliable.

thanks for the tips.

VPN router is no option since i don't want high energy consuming products.
On the Fritzbox there is VPN but that's a challenge to let work.

I agree, what happened to sharing solutions?

I have the same problem as Enver; I'm using Adito VPN which works OK, but not when I want to control the (Hyper-V) VM that is also running the Adito thing; I have to restart the connection before it works. So I'm also interested...

you're right. i'm just a bit short in time and felt that was the fastest solution. I will gather the information with source included but that takes some time. Basically it's setup by using the avm vpn tool, this produces a .cfg file with password included. you have to edit the cfg file and replace the password with something you now (16 char alfanumeriek)
Then install the safenet vpn client and configure it in the proper way.
I will post all as soon as i find some time.

edit:
Tried to upload the files but the max is 300KiB. Send complete set to moderator for file section.
To make a start here are some url's where i got the info.
