Voicemail seems to be the hottest issue regarding the Fritz!Box Plugin, so that's what I'll be working on next.

I do not want to use a drive letter to be able to access the voicemail files, so I was thinking of embedding an FTP client into the Plugin to retrieve the files.
I'm also considering to make the plugin in a way that the use of a USB Stick as storage is mandatory (so I don't have to support multiple configurations, all those different models already give me enough "multiples" )
I know a way to convert the voicemail files to wav format, so after that I can place those wav files 'somewhere', for example in the Homeseer data directory.
One thing left to figure out is how to link a voicemail wav to an incoming call.

Comments on my thoughts are always welcome, so if you think I'm making a huge mistake, please say so. Maybe the plans will change.
Any additional ideas, tips, etc. are also welcome.

I only have very little experience in programming, so please excuse me when I'm suggesting silly things.
Wouldn't it be easier to send the voicemail messages to a dedicated e-mail (for instance gmail) and then have homeseer checking whether there are any new messages (i.e. new voicemails)? The only thing than would be to have homeseer playing the attachment in the e-mail.

for the windows client there is a speaker client available..
You can use this to play the voicemails.

- Other nice option can be to callback a number when selecting a number on the HSTouch. (click to dail option)
- Search incoming number on the fritzbox, MDB then Internet..not sure this option is already there.

Some ideas:

- Would it be possible to show the Telephone Book on HSTouch and apply click-to-dial? So that when you click a button the number will be dialed and you just have to pick up the phone?

- Show the total data usage of the internet connection (today/current month)

- Set the alarm (phone will be ringing when time)

Hi Tane, regarding the playing of voicemails I read this indeed in one of your earlier posts. But it was rather difficult for me to find out what you actually did (mount an usb stick if I remember correctly, but also applying some script commands?!).

I'm only displaying the number of voicemails.
To do this you need a USB stick for store of the voicemails on the Fritz. this will also give you more recording time.

From HS server mount the USB stick
just count the number of files \\usbdrivename\Fritz\voicebox
place the counted files in a Device
In HSTouch just display the device on your screen.

Aftern every disconnect recount the files. (running count event)

Not much News, I've spent some time on this a while ago, but this hasn't resulted in anything usable/testworthy version yet; but thanks for the link, I'll keep it in mind.

Hi Digit,

The fritz!box 7390 supports guest access which can be activated via the web interface of the box. Guest access can be activated for a couple of hours after which it is switched off automatically. It would be great if guest access can be activated from within HS, more or less similar to WLAN switch on/off

I was searching this week for a completely different subject and 'landed' on the Mediaportal forum.
Mediaportal has a free Fritzbox plugin. I read here that it's also possible to play the voicemail messages within Mediaportal. If it can work in MediaPortal, why not in Homeseer?

I installed everything so I added also the the dll file which should be the Fritzbox plugin. Possible someone (Digit??) could grab more info out of this file?

Maybe also interesting is to play the voicemail files with a seperate codec "external decoder speexdec.exe"
