Yesterday i have see a new Mini PC that is maybe a nice solution for a homeseer server with a low power concumption (3 watt!).

Runs on ARM architecture. Windows doesn't. Windows 8 will.

Homeseer will not run on Windows 8...

The next version of Windows will be different with more focus on the cloud.
ARM version of Windows will not support all the windows applications...and almost for sure not the old .net 2.0

Uhrm the old .net 2.0 is still the core of the following versions (3.0, 3.5 and 4.0 although i dont have first hand evidance myself of 4.0, but see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.NET_Framework). So i would like to see a link to see some evidance. Ms normaly puts much effort in backward compatibility). If the arm version will be based on the compact framework it will be a slighly different story. Although porting efforts can be more easy then expected.

Good but without serial port. usb to rsr232 adapters don't work with HS and you can not fit in a serial-card. Best will be a DIY with that board.

I wonder what os is comming allong with the trim slice as 3w is kind of sweet....

You are invited to see how my homeseer works fine with 4x usb > rs232 adapters

I am also using a couple of usb->rs232 adapters with Homeseer without problems cause none of my computers have a serial port.

I tried 2 different products , with different chip and drivers on win-xp,HS works but for some days then my CTX35 stops to receive data and i must change port number and restart again for 7-10 days , then again....... So i changed my laptop HS server , with a std. workstation with physical Rs232. ciao

Nice! I like the fit-pc! Does anybody knows something similar? I need a small, cheap and power effective x86 PC to run 24/7.

Definitelly x86 or ARM will also do? Because with that you can get to the realy low power devices (4 watt and below it) that can run Linux. With x86 platform you can not go much better than fit-pc today.

I need x86. I have problems with Java Virtual Machines with ARM. Also I would like to run some Linux softwares that I'm not sure how or if they will run on ARM. By now the smallest computer I use is an Atom 330 based mini-ITX box, but I would like to migrate to something even smaller and more power effective.

@Mishobos, what are the problems with JVM and ARM processor? I would really like to know because I am planning to run my HA Software (programmed in Java) on an ARM architecture.
