New Toilet reading setup and graph

Post by Bwired »

On 2-10-2005 I installed wireless sensors (MS13) on our Toilets, up- and downstairs to see real-time how many times the toilets are flushed.
On 11-11-2007 I upgraded the toilets with a water saving dual flush system (3 versus 6.5 liters) So I replaced the Marmitek MS13 sensor for the Visonic MCT-100 which has 2 inputs which I can use for Water-saving and normal flush reading. So now it's possible to show how many water you can save a year with a watersaving mechanism.

right:-) Heino, writer of the book Domotica http://www.domoticaforum.eu/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=30
Has a complete automated toilet which even flushes automatic, so there enough possibilities.
I just want to show how much water saving you can achieve with a dual flush system in a normal familie
I wil put op some extra charts soon.

Yes, its really nice to see how much a difference it is.. you can also check if the toilet seat is "pressed" for more then xx seconds, you should flush once released. Dont know how you would do the rest, but its a start :)

(assuming the guys pee sitting down then)

Where did you get the sensors. The MCT-100 doesn't come with the actual sensors. You mentioned magnetic sensors, do you have more information about these?

Thanks

They are just magnetic alarm sensors you can get them at Conrad. Two of those can be connected to the Visonic MCT-100.
Look closely on the pictures and you see the sensors and piece of magnetic glued to the flush mechanism.
There are a lot of different Magnetic Contacts like these:

Brilliant... Ordered a cheap magnetic sensors at waakzaamwonen together with the Visonic MCT-100.. Will have to replace the magnets with smaller ones or saw then in half. Will post update once its working.

Unfortunately I have to open the MCT-100 and take out the electronics. The box doesn't fit behind the toilet-switch.

DJ,
I have also opened up the magnets and there where 2 small ones inside. If you make them to big then the flushing mechanism does not work optimal. Opening up the Visonic MCT-100 problem, try to install it not direct above the water in case of damp.
Keep us posted :-)

Hi Ed,
I and a lot of other forum members use the RFXcom receiver from www.rfxcom.com. It can receive a wide range of products and fully compatible with Homeseer.
check out this forum with all the topics http://www.domoticaforum.eu/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=27

I'm pretty close to getting the MCT-100 installed in my toilet now.. Next steps:
-fine tuning to get the correct readings (sensor/magnet placement)
-get smaller magnets

So there's 2 bars. The white one is for a big flush and the green one is for a small flush.
-Press green bar: green+white bar move backward a little
-Press white bar: only white bar moves.

It looks like your setup your system in a way that:
-The white bar only gets triggered if the magnet moves away (i.e. being pressed all the way)
-The green bar only gets triggered when the magnet comes near

Is this correct?

Hi DJ,
In my situation the White and the Green bars are reacting the same way, the are pushed independently from each other.
Eco flush the green bar will move backwards normal flush the White bar will move backwards

So if the ECO bar is pushed backwards, the white bar also moves backwards. Doesn't your system count this as 2 flushes as both magnets pass the sensor?
