It says it offers volt free switching; which means it operates just like the old mercury thermostats.
But you do get a nice touchscreen and, last but not least, an App!

Yes it does; modulation is still hard to find in "modern" thermostats (the ones with Wifi, Ethernet, touchscreen and other "modern" features)...
