Best operating system for Homeseer?

Team,

What is the best operating system in a VM for Homeseer? Currently HS is running on Windows 2000 in a VMWare Server virtual machine (without issues).
Important: resources (even though I can give HS about 1 GB of memory)

- Windows 7
read a lot about sound issues on board.homeseer.com
- Windows 2003
Getting older, maybe not the way to start?
- Windows 2008
Any issues?
- Windows XP
Maybe a bit old and end-of-support?

What are your ideas?
DJ

Update, this is a poll that I just found on the HS board.. It can give you some indication of what is being used..
Windows 7 seems to be second (adding the 32-bit and 64-bit percentages which happen to be exactly the same??)

I'm using Windows XP (32bit) for my HomeSeer in a XenServer (VM) setup.
I've been using this setup for some time now (over one year), and till now no problems what so ever.
Reason that I'm using XenServer is that I'm also running other OS'ses at the same time (FreePBX, and a Debian server)

Till now I'm not regretting it.

I was using HS on Windows Vista x86 (duh, why did I ever get that license...) in VMWare Fusion (paid) with 2GB assigned on a MacMini. Very stable.

I tried using HS on Windows 7 x64 in KDE/QEMU (VM) on Fedora x64. I have issues with the assignment of USB resources to the VM (Fedora issue), but in itself it runs fine and stable.

Now I am using HS on Windows 7 x64 in VMWare Player (also free) on Fedora (Linux x64) with 2GB assigned. Also stable.

Moved away from the MacMini as I did not wanted to run it contineously anymore (HP MicroServer for NAS and HS now). The Athlon CPU is either slower than the Core 2 Duo in the MacMini or Fedora and device mirroring (RAID1) consumes too much, and a VMWare Fusion which seems to provide better performance than VMWare Player, resulting in making working with the system dreadfull (slooow).

Not using sound, and only USB devices attached (RFXCOM, 2x ZWave sticks, CM15USB, UIRT).

*EDIT: Upgraded the HP MicroServer with an SSD for the OS. Pretty fast now. HDs sw mirrored, was not smart running the OS on top of that.

I am running Homeseer on WindowsXP on VMWare ESX. This proved to be a very stable setup (as long as you don't mess with doubtfull plugins).
