Our existing wireless doorbell died on us, so I'm in the market for a new one. This time, I would like it to interface with Homeseer and I think my RFXCom would be the perfect intermediary.

So, which of the hundreds of wireless doorbells out there works 'the best' with RFXCom?
'Best' to me means fast response, always works, no interference from other RF activities. I don't mind paying a bit more to get it

My questions:
1. Is it correct that RFXCom will only read/pick-up RF signals from their approved list and ignore all other RF signals?
(so Friedland, Heidemann or Byron doorbells will not be picked up?)

2. Is this the complete approved list of the LAN Transceiver? (copied from the RFXCOM website):
"RF receiver for X10, Oregon Scientific, Visonic, HomeEasy, KlikAanKlikUit, COCO, ELRO, NEXA, Intertechno, Düwi, Chacon, DI.O, Domia Lite, ATI Remote Wonder, RFXSensor, RFXPower, RFXMeter."

3. So can anybody share their experience with these brands who make doorbells?

I use 3.1 without any problems together with rfxcom. And what I find a nice option is that there is a version where you can use you own (or new) doorbell. I really didnt like the standard kaku doorbell, but didn't want to solder or tweak a device to work.

The version where you can use your own doorbell is: ACDB6500AC
I never missed a ring, as far as i know;-)

Thanks for the quick reply and information. Do you know if the 3.1 (KAKU/COCO) has dip settings to set some sort of sub-freqency range in case there's an RF interference issue?

My worry is that most (all?) of these devices operate on the 433 mhz range, quite crowded range. My understanding is that the better quality products are able to code/sub-range their communication in order to avoid RF clashes.

And I agree with the 'limited' beauty of the std KAKU/COCU model...

no, its not possible to change that. I understand your worry. Thats the downside of this choise.

I dont use much 433mhz items, therefore I cannot tel you if this will be a problem.

I can tell you the doorbell doesnt send the signal once, but a couple of times.

I use kaku as well. Works great with my original doorbell knob.
Use many 433mhz devices as well but never miss a ring.
And like normal doorbells: if somebody presses the doorbell and does not hear the bell they will ring again.

FYI:

The Smarthome WP2002GS Wireless Plug-in Door Chime Receiver is also supported by the RFXtrx433.
smart-home.com.hk/docs/product_pdf/WP20 ... 2002GS.pdf

It is recognized as a Byron SX chime.

(Don't know which tab I have to use to send a chime signal though.)

the latest RFXmngr (available on the download page) has the Chime tab.

I did not manage to get that working. I received an ID of 00D0 (channel 11 if I recall) when using the doorbell, but I can only select an ID ranging from 00 to FF.
