RFXCOM USB Transmitter connected via USB Network HUB

I am currently using both a RFXCOM LAN Transceiver and a USB Transmitter on a HOMESEER system running on an XP Pro platform. Recently the USB transmitter is failing every now and then (once a day or perhaps once every 2 days) and will not transmit anything anymore until I shutdown Homeseer and reboot the PC, then all works fine again for a period until the unit's communication causes an error again.
I have been told that some users have successfully hooked up the USB transmitter to a (Belkin) USB Network Hub so the communication will actually go throug TCP/IP rather than USB. I am keen to try this, but I would really appreciate if someone who has this set-up can tell me how to get this configured. My original set-up was done several years ago and I would really struggle to do this without any help. Has anyone had similar problems and got it solved with this HUB and if so, how did you manage to do this ??
