ZCG100 optical sensor reading?

Hi,
I have a zcg100 energy meter which supports 4 zones (day/night and returns day/night).
There is a led that blinks according to 1000 imp/kwh.
I have connected an rfxpulse to an rfxmeter and everything works great.
But according to a pdf I found on the web:

This tells me there is also a "Optical interface IEC 62056-21 mode C".
Has anyone ever tried to connect something to this to read all 4 zones?
