Just came across this Kickstarter project.

Nice idea and looks like they'll be offering an API so integration with existing domotica systems seem to be an option...

Reinvented again
LIFX looks much the same like this one:

(I must confess I didn't have a look @ the details, but the concept looks pretty much the same to me)

Funny... JUST read about it and wanted to share it on this forum.... Not needed! ;-)

I'm going to order one or more.. The possibilities are great:
- Special color sequences if it starts raining and a window is open
- etc.etc.

We do have to wait for a while though with the first deliveries expected on March 2013 ;-(
Still, there's endless possibilities for Home Automation!

About the Insteon product: CHEAP but it looks like it will only work with the Insteon SmartLinc Hub. No Wifi, no colors.
I have no experience with Insteon products at all. Can you buy SmartLinc Hub's in the Netherlands? Does it use Z-wave, Zigbee or some proprietary RF protocol?

I guess you'll need a Smartlinc; protocol can be found on their website IIRC.
BTW there are signs that Insteon is coming to the EU:
