Iám new in the wolrd of domotica
Questions
I have 2 compaq pc's 1 P3 866 MHz and 1 p4 1,5 GHz both with 768 mB ram , 40 GB disk.
The p3 866 takes about 21 watts.
Is this p3 good for Domotiga ?
What is a good Ubuntu or other (linux) os to install to run Gamba and Domotiga.
I have tried to install ubuntu-11.10-desktop-i386 but it wil not run, after the first intall screen the system freezes.
The system is was running XP-sp3 wich i saved as image to another HD.

I have yesterday tested it and i rubs like captain slow.
I wil first try to install Ubuntu 10.04LTS i386 also on the P4 . the 12.04 LTS does also not run very wel.
I don't know if there are "better" linux os for old pc's.
I want only to run domoriga as a start.
Until now i have only good windows knowledge, but i already found out that i have to think in another way in ubuntu land.
Other question , i had big troubles installing MySql. Is
http://library.linode.com/databases/mys ... 0.04-lucid a gooed start ?

What didn't work during your MySQL installation?
Also if you only want to run DomotiGa, maybe Raspberry Pi devices or
http://robosavvy.com/store/product_info ... ts_id/1839 can be your better choice (I am running DomotiGa on the 3350MX)

The fist test with 12.04 LTS was not very good.
Ubuntu 10.04LTS i386 runs ok, i followed the domotiga wiki, what i did not exactly read the fist time is that mysql is installed in the
gamba wiki page
It run ok now, de HDDtemp monitor is running.
Tanks for the help ill start exploring Domotiga
