Last night my bike is stolen.
There are recordings but I'm afraid that I will never see my bike again.

Is there a close up picture that we can share for you in FB and Twitter?

Enver,

That sucks!!

Blow up the picture and spread it around. At least that way you can derive some satisfaction from all the comments....

Good luck
Olof

Some thoughts I had while reading this topic were
- The image quality is not good enough to be of any help;
- Why is this a guy?;
- Hey, my neighbor looks just like that! Shall I post his name & address here?

It's sad, but having a camera taking pictures of the event while it happens makes it even more frustrating IMO.
I think that's the status quo of camera surveillance efficiency in a lot of cases.

- The image quality is not good enough to be of any help;
Axis, the Swedish IP camera manufacturer, states that a face needs to at least 80 pixels in size in order for the face to be recognizable.
In addition, the camera needs to have sufficient Night capabilities, otherwise it tends to become a blur.

In the forums at http://www.networkcamerareviews.com there is a lot of information available on what that means. In terms of camera quality, defining the (sub) areas within your camera view w.r.t. facial recognition, settings, etc...

Cheers,
Olof

Camera quality is fine..i just need te record it in better quality
More light will make it worst since the camera need to change that first.

Current setting for recording
4 Cifs Full frame Compression 10%

Camera is a Camron connected to Axis IP Video server.
Recording via QNAP Nas.

see the full video...

Day quality is fine...see picture
Alerting did work fine...but outside detection is not that easy since there is always any movement outside.

HD Camera will be much better..maybe the next step...

With only one lock and not attached to the house.

And now the car is gone as well....

yep outside..
usually you don't need more than one lock in Nieuwegein..
for the new bike I will go for a house attached lock...maybe even a active sensore at night time.

i see a light flash when the thief has almost done his work, you see he is terrorised by the light flash , cant you flash earlier. then he runs before he takes the bike.

put it on youtube maybe someone recognizes the way he moves and walks.

Sorry to hear your bike was nicked... :( Sucks

Although the SD camera wasn't very useful for an ID, imho this setup still has its purposes.
Like, seing if there's somebody hiding on the side of the door while another rings the doorbell, checking on your property remotely etc... And even in this case it yielded a small (maybe usable for the insurance) piece of information: proof that the bike was locked, as you can clearly see him lift the backwheel to take it away.

For a facial ID, an expensive HD Mobotix or something similar might have resolved more detail, but you still could have gotten something useless, had he simply covered his face.
