Zwave protocol and driver in PHP

Hello,
I am trying to build a PHP driver to connect to a Aeon Zwave stick series 2. I have been searching internet for some information how to start. But I only have found solutions based on open-zwave with C# drivers. Can somebody help me out the right way how to start communicating with the Z stick? My system is based on linux.
I have read that some people on this forum has built their own PHP driver for multilevel switches and other equipment. Maybe some people can share their code to get me started.
