Making use of my UK internet account?

Post by Noel »

I have a 2nd house in the UK where I also have an ADSL account.

Is it somehow possible for me to get somekind of router that will let me connect to my UK modem (from my Dutch account), and let me use the UK IP that is set to the UK ADSL account (like a proxy server)
Basically I want to access some sites through my UK IP.

Installing a server is not an option!

If your UK router/modem has a VPN server, make a VPN connection and route your traffic trough it.

There is no computer installed at the other (UK) end... only a modem (and if needed a router).. no more no less

Drayteks do it, a fritzbox can(with a little configuration) you could even use a sheevaplug and install openvpn on it.
I'm contemplating something similar for my soon to arrive guruplug.

Wow.. The sheevaplug looks nice.. And it can run Debian (me love Debian).
I'm going to do some more reading on this.

Thank you for the info.

PS. Do you maybe have a "Draytek" model nr that for sure can do this?

Don't have handson experience, but most models are advertised with this functionality.
I only know of the fritzbox (I've got one) and how it's done, I'm sure that you can find more info of the the draytesk on draytek.nl. And according to their reputation they'd be more than happy to help you with your choice regarding VPN.

I guess the iPlayer mgiht be your reason? ;)
