230 V AC Shutter module for 24V DC shutter

Post by Droezel »

Hello all,

I've got a X10 MPL1 Shutter module working with 230V motors. But upstairs I have 24V DC shutters (VELUX). I would like to connect those also to an MPL1. Can anyone tell me how this can be done?

I am no electrician, my father in law (who is electrician) tried to connect to the MPL1 with relais/switches and a 24V dc power source but it wouldn't work reliably. The shutter closes/opens in small increments and very slow. Power to the shutter doesn't stop after 1 minute, ....

Henk, you must know about this:

The ZAX12 output is based on two 230V output wires - one is for up and the other one is for down.Only one wire should get power otherwise you may expect smoke ....
In most case all large sun screening or blind doors (rolluiken) will be using 230V motors - so three wires one neutral (blue) and two black wires (one is up and the other one is down)
Except smaller tube motors like rolgordijnen or electrical curtains are mostly based on 24V DC motor ..... direction (up and down / close - open ) is based on the polarity of the power supply.
So in case using the ZAX12 get two 230V relays with 2 set of contacts and do some soldering .....so the polarity will switch.

I got two Somfy tubemotors (24V - 28mm) with one ZAX12 - with 2 relays - operating two rolgordijnen (curtains) - works ok .. modified the standard rolgordijnen (curtains) by removing the manual chain - but take care of the diameter of the tube - mostly it is too small..... The preset is a nice function ..

BUMP: Anyone have an idea?

The Velux option would be:

Velux KUX-100 RF interface to the shutter (127,00 EUR)
http://193.163.166.141/infofax/7751.pdf

Velux KLF-100 Potential Free contact/interface to RF
http://193.163.166.141/infofax/7758.pdf (123,00 EUR)

This would cost me 250 EUR per shutter! I guess i'd also need a Xanura SAX15 interface which add's another 110 EUR. I'd rather find some more cost effective solution... All help is welcome!
