Help with X10 error

Post by RdP »

Hi,

Today I came home from a week abroad and I saw that no X10 communication was possible. I looked at my Xanura phasecoupler and the error and receive leds were flashing continue. First I restarted Homeseer but that was not the problem. Any Idea how to troubleshoot this problem ??

Thanks,

Rien

Have you try to restart the coupler?
Maybe there is some device with a problem.
I had the same problem in the past, and it was my lcd tv that was causing this.
I switch of all my groups and then switch on one by one.
So i find the group with the problem.

Help with X10 error

Post by RdP »

I'm still suffering from this problem. My X10 system is just not reliable anymore. I think I found at least one device which causes some problems. It's a LCD TV. When I turn it on, the phase couples error led goes on and the receiving led is flashing most of the time. When I turn of the LCD tv the symptoms stop. I thought I could solve this problem when I place a x10 filter (FM10) between the TV, but strangly enough the problem stays the same. Can a FM10 filter be defect ?? How can I solve this problem ??

Thanks,

Rien

That should solve your LCD problem, I have a filter there as well.
So has the FM10 a defect? yes, but that would be a coincident?

I'm getting crazy. Today(in fact since yesterday evening) the same LCD TV does not cause any X10 error anymore (without the filter plugged in). Yesterday afternoon I could easily reproduce the problem by switching the TV on and off.

Yes, I thought about that and tried it. But I can't get it in error mode anymore.

This is a good thing, but I still don't trust my X10 system. I also have devices which turn on without any notice in Homeseer and other which turn of without any notice in Homeseer.

Help with X10 error

It's looks like since I installed a X10 filter between my LCD tv, everything has been working stable for a week now. So this is promising.....

Because I want to control this LCD tv to switch it of completely when I turn on the alarm, so you can not see the bleu LED from outside when I'm away.
Will te following work ??
I plug in a AM12 appliance module into the wall outlet, the I put the X10 filter(FM10) into the AM12 and then the LCD tv into the FM10.

Thanks,

Yes it works, I would first put the FM10, so this works always. Probably no advantages but....
Also strange things in you X10 network can occur with combinations of devices.
In your case you can not simulate the error anymore, but it can have a dependency with other devices in your home like the dishwasher etc.
