Xmas Domotica

Post by Bwired »

Look at this Xmas Domotica from a friend of my, it's fun [8D]
The camera is a Sony Evi-D30
http://85.147.1.193/cam/webcam.php

He is also using interesting streaming software WebcamFLV
webcamFLV is created to display a webcam in streaming mode on the web. It uses FFmpeg
as the encoder to convert the webcam images to FLV Flash Live Video
You can adjust the transfer rate in the Settings options menu. Depending on the specified
transfer rate the quality will increase or decrease!!

Xmas Domotica

Some backgrounds on my project.

As I am already very interested in Domotica stuff I build this first project "the Xmas cam"

To control the lights and bears I have ( very simple ) used some http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solid_state_relais connected to the printer port of the pc.
To control the printerport I wrote a little Visual Basic application which is listening on an internal TCP-port. On the webpage the php is sending the correct commands to the port.
The VB does also some timing to prevent everything being switched on if a visitor leave site without switching it off.

Funny things is that for an other un-stable porgramm I reboot my pc every morning 07:30. Sunday morning it was the first time with the moving bears connected. The VB application was not in the startup folder and the bears started moving direct after the reboot.
The family started to complain about the noise comming from the loft.[^]
Let me know if you would like to see some pictures.

Cheers,

Frank

Merry christmas!! Oh... not yet.. first the Sint still has to leave the country again :P Perfect timing though with the snow and all.

I've done some selective streaming using that software as well. And I agree, it works quite nicely.

Ciao,
Esteban
