Problems in A10 Network

And my lamp sometimes following the status of another address is now more or less permanent: It switches on and off nearly any time the first lamp switches. Strangely enough, it doesn't work the other way around...

Still no response from Eaton to my complaint last week, that's really not constructive in these situations. It's sad to see that they don't care.

Maybe it is a good idea to also share some other experiences with you all. I use several SAIX, AIX and DIX modules for nearly 2 years now without any problem. The only problem has been a broken fuse in one of my DIX dimmers.

Perhaps the cricial question would be, did you place a filter in the master fuse box? Perhaps one of your neighbours decided to step into the A10 switching thing

Chak,

Here also a lot of trouble with the old Holec modules.
The problem in the old modules is a bad 'elco' in the power supply.
(1 uF, 400V)

In the newer modules from june 2003 (Eaton) the elco is replaced with another type with a red text.

For instance not working of the local switch is very well known with the old and newer 2003 modules. After 2 months the modules will stop working forever. The led is not blinking anymore.

The other problem is that some modules are burned completely.
According to me the modules produce to much heat.

In jan 2003 I installed +- 50 modules.
After 2 months I had a lot of problems and I contact Holec (Pedro).
In june 2003 Holec send me new modules. Now in 2009 I think 35 modules of the 100 in total are still working correct.

One week ago our bedroom SAIX was broken and I replaced it with a normal switch because of no sparepart available. I've to leave my bed now for switching off and on the light. Maybe that's why I am little negative.

I think it's time for me to contact Holec again.
Pedro are you allready a forum member.
Gerald, give some support, like you did in the good old CMG SIG Domotica times when we're programming PIC processors.

To the other forum members:
Are you interested in some photo's of burned and broken modules?

P.S. I use 8 DAIX10 modules (may 2003) and they are still working perfect in 2009 without a problem. (Other powersupply?)

@DMB Thanks for the update.
With the new modules I have no problems.
I will contact Henk/Pedro from Eaton and ask for some support.
I have some old ones (2003, 2004)in use I don't trust them....hope Eaton will replace them before they stop working.

And some others that I don't remember

and yes I'm still positive
Xanura is one of the best solution for domotica.

You're right about that. And it's always difficult to estimate somebody else's trouble shooting talents from a distance

I currently have these units in use:

In the first delivery in 2006 of 35 pieces, 7 were dead on arrival (of which two came in 'defect' marked boxes). In 2007 3 units broke down. In 2008 2 broke down and 2 are highly dubious. In 2009 nothing broke down (yet).

I am very disappointed in this system. Not in the last place because I haven't received any response to my complaint from Eaton. But also because it is very fragile: Something simple as plugging in a phone charger can disrupt the entire system. And the correlation between a phone charger being in a (different) outlet and a non-functional lamp is not easily made. The system, as it is now, is completely unsuitable for an electric installation because it's simply way too unreliable. If I toggle a switch, I want my lamp to go on (or off), very simple, but Xanura does not a reliable job there.

And what in the future? Do I need to keep replacing 4 modules every year? And what if Eaton stops replacing modules free of charge? An additional 100 per module in addition to the replacement effort will get even the enthusiast to throw out a system with 4 defective units a year...

Eaton is going to replace all my defect modules.
