Problems with Plugwise Software

Post by jcasteel »

Hi All,

I recently bought some plugs and I am really enjoying the overall solution.

However there are some enoyances especially in the source software.

1. I had some issues with discovering all my plugs. (I did need to reset all my pligs) but during the reset I encountered the following bugs in source
a. Settingss -> Add Plugs -> You add your plug ID (5 digits)
Next (System decovers the Stick and the Circle +)
Next (System decovers the other Circle)
...
In case that you are inpatient....
....
Previous
What you will see is that the plugid is now listed twice in the list.
...
you can continue that and each time the plugId will be added.

At the end it was not clear to me that I needed to wait until they all turned green.... maybe a progress bar would make sense to tell us that the discovery is in progress

2. In my case my calendar in the scheduling is one day off.
Today it is Tuesday 21 but in the shedule it is shown as Wednessday. I have no real explenation why this is happening....

3. I had some issues with the data that need to be retrieved from the plugs. Its still not clear for me when the correct data in the source software.... I just leave the source software running for a while and then switch between different view. I think it needs to be clearer when the views are updated with the correct data and information.

I will list some more when I find how to reproduce them because I managed to crash the source several times already when I was playing with the setup of appliances.

The current version of the Source software is very buggy. However, while I run it but not use it directly to see usage figures or switch the devices, I do that via Homeseer, it is quite stable. The new released beta version of the software promises to fix a lot of the bugs, so let's wait for a week or so and see what bugs are found by the forum members who are participating in the beta testing.

I found that closing tha application after a few minutes and restarting it often updates the statistics. it seems as if they are in the system quite fast, but not shown in the charts at the same rate.

If you want to try the beta Source, please send a mail to: helpdesk@plugwise.com
Ask them to add them to the beta testers, and provide you license.
Maybe your remarks regarding the software are solved with the beta.
