I have a ramses 811 top WTH Thermostate. The thing is bug ugly:

Anyway i wanted to replace it with the chronoterm vision



Also basicly because it has a extra input for home automation to short the circuit to either do nothing or go back to normal routine.

But i have city heating, is it then still possible to use the chronoterm? (i have zero experience with this, never had a c.v.)

Happen to know if these are on/off or modulating thermostats??

I could not find the ON/Off or Modulating in the documentation.

With an optional Proliphix outdoor temperature sensor connected to a networked thermostat, the heating/cooling system can be controlled more precisely to efficiently and more comfortably overcome the indoor to outdoor temperature difference.

The configuration guide is very ample (extensive).

well my problem is that it wont work since i have city heating, which basicly means that a lot of them fall short.. also i dont know if i can still manage to get ethernet to the place where the display is. (let alone power) i asked for some cables there too but ofcourse he forget them too.. its really ashame, i wanted to do so much with automation but this person just forget a lot. Only plus thing is now i know what to get in my new house if i ever do.. and what cables etc etc.. (basicly create a ton of tubes trough the house, thats the only option)

But basicly those proliphix look cool, if you say that will work with city heating, i will surely get one..

I have city heating also. As long as you have a 24VAC system, you can use most of the available single stage thermostats.

I bought a HAI Omnistat2 RC1000 a few months ago, the testdrive was ok, but I'll be installing it in my new apartment next week.

Some nice features:

HAI has a well thought out HS plugin, and uses a serial connection. I have changed the regular thermostat cable for an UTP cable, over which I run the power and serial back to the powerboard.

i checked, and it seems i have a 24volts system too. Its 2 wires coming out the wall.. hmm i ques i will order a proliphix, those look really nice and ethernet is nice too (serial allready too much for)

chronoterm vision has two types, normal or modulation.
I have the modulation and am not impressed. Screen is somehow hard to read, looks like the cristals are on the wrong angle.
Further more is you use the modulation type it is not possible to put a switch "in serie" with the connection wires to influance the thermostat switching.
Positive is the incorparated TELE connection to switch between fixed temperatuur and clock controlled. I found out that is also overrules the active scheme at that moment. So if you have set te TELE temp at 21 and on the vision you have selected holiday or continu temp then it will switch to 21c when the TELE contact is shorted.

you probably have an opentherm HVAC which sends a lot of other info to the current thermostat like heating temp, pressure, errorcodes etc.
If you buy a thermostat like in the US all these options will probably be gone, so keep this in mind.

i know i see 2 wires coming towards the thermostat, thats it.. and when i check the pdf of the ethernet one its with tons of other connections..

Opentherm only needs the existing 2 wires, all the information comes over these wires and the thermostat nows how to display it.
So check the options of your hvac and which thermostat can handle the options. If you don't want the options (and modulation) you can go for a US one.

i think i dont need modulation since i have city heating, so i either get warm or cold water. i do want to see the temperature and set times and those kinds of things.

check with proliphix itself, this is what they said:

All of our thermostats are standard 24VAC thermostats. So, the question is will your current system support a standard 24VAC thermostat? If it will then ours should work for you. You will need to confirm that with your heating system people or manufacturer.

Im not sure what you mean by will it be able to read out the data? If our Tstat will work with your system we will display al temperature settings and readouts but they will be in English.

Again, if your system can support our 24VAC Thermostat the 2 wire connection should not be a problem. One wire should be the 24V source and one wire will be the heating wire connection.
