HDMI cable -> 16mm tube

I'm going to replace my old Philip beamer by a new Full HD version.

The current beamer is mounted to the ceiling.
There is power and two available tubes.
Both tubes are 16 mm with few curves in it.

I need to replace the current cables +/- 10 meter S-video and Vga
Replacement of the VGA will be almost impossible. cable is 10 mm thick and there for few years with more than 1 liter DREFT (soap) in the tube.
S-video will be easy.
My challenge is how to put a good quality HDMI cable in the 16 mm tube and soldering the new HDMI connector.

Is self soldering of HDMI cable something that can be done?

VGA cable cost me more the 10 hours and 4 connectors before it was working..

A question about these "extenders". I see vga, hdmi ecc. all over CAT5 cable. My question is: sender and reciever must be connected to SAME cable or can signal be routed through an lan HUB or router? this because i would avoid a cat5 line only for video signal.

I need double UTP in 16 mm double UTP is a bit difficult.

What I have done with high-end s-video in the past
Just cut the cable 50cm meter before the connector.
Without connector it was easy the get it through the tube..after that I soldered the ends and shield it.
This works well..not sure this will work for the HDMI cable.

2x UTP in 16 mm pipe should not be a problem. I have UTP and coax through 16mm pipe...
Use some soap (dreft) to make the cables go a bit easier.

You can better use talcum powder (talkpoeder).
I got this tip few years ago..works much better and you can remove the cable easier

S-video is less quality the Component/HDMI in most cases. IF you go for real HD I would also go for a "real" connection.

I cant solder, but i still got one diy solder connector left from my experiment.
I finaly did the trick with a mini hdmi connector wich i stripped a bit ( got them from kabeltje.com )

Or you'll have too much extra cable at one end (and ofcourse the extra costs of the meters).

What I have done a few times is pulling a 'trekveer'(special pulling cable/spring for electricity wires) in the tubes and put a piece of ducktape over the end of the spring and the video cable then pulled it back. this way you can make a very small connection and the tape is extremely sticky and usually holds when you pull and push from both sides.
