Isn't that connectivity based on the yahoo widget engine? (i've registered myself as developer, didn't get a response yet.. [8)])
When playing with one of those samsung TVs, one of the menu's showed a 'developer-id'. I haven't found where to register that. It all looks very promising though: having TV and dynamic internet (intranet?) content side by side works really well from a couch-point-of-view. Though it's not that quick and it needs more widgets.

I read the same article about the sony tv.
According to the article, you need to put your own stuff either on a usb stick or set up a specially prepared proxy server, to fool the tv to look at another server. This doesn't sound very good to me...

You can add yourself as a developer for these widgets, but i have not seen any "techie's" play with it if you search on google. Also, you have to select the widgets before you can use them. So "button -> select which one -> load data -> show on screen"
Where as what i would find really informative is a widget that pops up at some certain conditions "door bell rings -> popup widget, camera screen frontdoor" but this is too much future talk i think
