I've just bought a Aeon Labs Z-Wave stick, and now I'm trying to install it on my HomeSeer server.
Problem is that after installing the needed drivers, and connecting the USB stick to the server I keep getting an error "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because there is a duplicate device already running in the system....."
The driver is shown as: "Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge", and set to COM10
The problem is (I think) that the Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge is also used by the PMIX35 (Xanura's Controller Analyzer). The PMX35 is using COM3.
The info that I'm using to get the Z-Wave stick to work is from here: http://www.homeseer.com/pdfs/Z-Stick-In ... ctions.pdf
Anyone here who might know how I can get this all to work together?

Code 42
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because there is a duplicate device already running in the system.
Recommended resolution
A duplicate device was detected. This error occurs when a bus driver incorrectly creates two identically named children (bus driver error), or when a device with a serial number is discovered in a new location before it is removed from the old location.
Restart the computer.

Restart the computer will not fix this problem..

Guess you are on WinXP? I have tried a lot but it sometimes worked and after a restart it did or did not. Pretty random. So I moved to Win7 since there is an updated Silicon Driver and now it all works fine since a few month.

Thank you Bastiaan.
Yes I'm on XP, but might now update it to Windows 7.
Problem is that the XP setup is at the moment running so sweet on my Asus EEE box that I do not really want to wipe the SSD.

I do use an Asus EEE box (with SSD) and have been struggling with the XP drivers for a long time. I haven't found any downside to upgrading to W7. It just worked.

Good to know that the EEE box will run W7.
(Did you do a BIOS SLIC2.1 "fix" on it? If so, you will know what I'm talking about
)
Are you using the 32 or 64 bit version of W7?
I know that it should not be in this thread, but as my HomeSeer is running so nice, can I just backup the homeseer directory, and place it back in the new W7 setup?

I am running W7 32 bit Pro with 2 gig internal memory.
Yes you can copy/backup your HS dir, just make sure your Database is also in there and when re-installing you use the same folder name. (Older HS installs used a different folder name).
Plenty of tutorials on this site in the HS thread.
I can't remember loading a special BIOS, but I always update them to the latest when installing a new OS. Certainly no hacks.
