Siemens Gigaset S450 IP of any use?

Post by proohu01 »

Does anyone know if the Siemens Gigaset S450 IP can be used for any domotica functions? It is networked.

I would realy like to somehow have CLID on mij webserver. Can this device help me gain that functionality, or is there another simple solution?

Thnx, Hugo

Not sure what you want to do exactly, but I've got a Targa DIP Phone 450 (it's like the Siemens Gigaset S450 IP), and with it (in combination of Astrisk, Homeseer and a custom script) I can turn on/off devices.

It's very limited as I did not have time to finish the script that is running on Asterisk.
All I need to do is dial *00#, and a voice prompt will ask me for the "house" code, and than it will toggle it (on when it's off / off when it's on)

You can better go for a PocketPC or a Pronto for Domotica Control
I have the Siemens S68H with BT..only option that I'm using is the basic phone part

Well, actually, I only want my server to keep a log of all incomming and optionally all outgoing calls.
I have an Internet + phone subscription with UPC and I am not quit sure how to get the CLIP signals that travel over the cable into my server....
I was hoping that the S450IP could help.
...does this make any sence?

I'm using fritz!box for that part.
FritzBox can collect all the information about calls

I am not sure if this would work because I don't have ADSL but Cable. UPC gave me a cable modem that splits the signal into analogue telephone and Internet. I presume that the CLID signal is lost on the LAN port of the modem. That is why I was hoping that the S450IP (that is connected to the telephone side op the modem and a LAN switch) would fix this.

I have Ziggo and also no ADSL or KPN for the phone.
Ziggo and UPC will deliver PSTN from the phone out of the modem. UPC and ziggo use FSK for CLID

I am using the phone logging exactly as you want and I am on UPC too. First I had a Fritzbox but it was limiting my throughput for my UPCfiber subscription. Now I use a Linksys SPA3102, it recognizes the CLIP and sends it to my VOIP system. from there it is distributed by ring groups, also to the HS machine who does the logging (and announcing of the number) too. What I am not sure about is if the Siemens when it gets a call on the analogue line, it redistributes it on the network, if you can make a foreward to your HS machine it could work. I have the siemens 301D in my system but only use the SIP functions. I am not impressed with the Siemens software...

i have a sip handset of siemens, i'am not impressed either. i saw a new "homestation" with a wireless phone with a big screen for widgets too, cant remember the name, but dont think it will come to the EU either, although thats what you should look for more. I just have asterisk connected with a cisco phone (wired) but really good for conference calls.
