Somebody experience with the eneco hre ketel?
I am curious about the technical background. How it works!!!!

The base of the generator is a Stirling-engine http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stirlingmotor
This principal is already used for some years in the nautic sector for heating and charging batteries with 1 device.

How it works from a different angle.
You burn some extra (expansive) gas to heat the stirling engine which in turn will produce electricity.
This electricity is delivert back to the netwerk (the surplus part that is) and you will get a few cents for it but you can buy this energy back again for triple the price (maybe from an other HRe owner that feeds the energy company). The big winner is the energy company here. Cheap energy for them, no maintance costs for equipment to produce energy, spread load on the netwerk and more.
btw, The technology is nice

You get as much for 1 Kwh as you have to pay for it, Your meter runs back when you deliver more than you use.(ask the solarcell owners)
You are already heating up air to heat up your water, using this heat for a stirling generator doesnt cost you extra gas.

Not really correct. The heat used to heat the water doesn't contain enough temperature anymore to effectivly drive the stirling motor. If you aren't drawing heat anymore then a small flame will heat the stirling engine. This flame won't be there in modern HR++ heating system. (20% more gas usage AND gas prices riced 20% in the last few years) Please read reviews and systems test about HRe before you make a descision because they are advertised far to optimistic.
(Some HRe's need their oil changed every 6 months for example)

I think it has the same problem with cars and batteries. To power the batteries you'll need a dynamo. A dynamo uses more fuel because of the friction on the motor. So to make alectricity you'll need fuel. HRE has the same problem i would think.
