LED Light and Remote

Post by Bwired »

I saw this product on the Velleman site
It is a 5W RGB LED Light LAMPL5RGB with a remote controle
I don't know if the remote control is RF or IR. Could be RF because the official name is LAMPL5RGB/RC (radio controlled)
Does anybody know this product?
If it is RF then it's possible to control a bunch of the LED light at once.

Hi Pieter,

Be careful with this one, as far as the price is concerned. I've seen it several times, from different brands with a wildly varying price, ranging from 30 euros up to more than a hundred...

this looks the same to me ??? (dutch) :

http://www.samenkopen.net/action/188610

4 dim levels

16 colours

there are master and slave lamps.

the master lamps have an infrared receiver
the slave lamps need to be connected via additional wires

here's another picture (different socket)

Image

in general the problem with controlling RGB leds via remote control (RF/IR) is that you can't set absolute RGB values (like with DMX)

you can only send R++ G--- etc.

Some more things:

Note that the "RC" could also mean "Remote Control" instead of "Radio Control". If I remember well it's an IR remote. The lamps are available with different fittings as well (GU10 etc.). They are either master or slave (slave lamps follow the color of the master). I once considered trying one of these but decided to opt for the DMX stuff.

Some links to the same/similar lamp:

http://www.triolight.nl/product_led_lampen.html

There's also been an "inkoopactie" for these lamps:

I have some of those with normal socket and 12VDC, they work really wel, but only IR control. I'm thinking to use an IRTrans (http://www.irtrans.de/) device to control these.

That would be an option. Are the lights sensitive enough regarding IR?

Sensitivity is no problem, I have mounted a light behind a glass brick wall (thick bricks of about 12cm). The IR signal gets trough every time. The final setup will be 2 of these led lamps in master/slave config mounted in the wall above the glass bricks with an IR eye mounted nearby and the irtrans device hidden in the ceiling.

Hi Bwired, I agree with Lannart. You should be careful. This RGB Light varies from different brands with a wildly varying price. You can find much lower prices in other places. I suggest before bidding, you'd better compare with at least 5 shops and send inquiry for more details and tech specifictions. Becasue it is hard to identify quality just having a look at pictures. Many shopers copy pictures from others.
