Not able to read private messages

Post by dali »

I understand that there might be a reason not to let people that haven't postad that much to send PM's, but I don't understand why we aren't allowed to read received PM's. I know that someona has sent me a message, that might be important, but I'm not allowed to read it.
An explanation would me nice.

Hi Daniel,

So far I known there is no limitation to read privates msg , are you sure the sender has sent the email and not saved the email.
By mistake I made the same fault last week :P

Otherwise ask Pieter ( owner of the forum ) to look for you , and find the lost msg

I can see in the forums Control Panel that I have an unread message, but I'm not allowed to read it.

Just ask Pieter to explain this.
Mean while do you have a alternative way to come in touch with the sending person ..?

This is my way of asking him, and giving others the chance to answer too.
By the way, I accidently posted in the wrong subforum. Feel free to move the thread to the "suggestions" subforum.

Hi,

We explained that several times before why we have this policy.
There are a lot of people who only become a member to mail other members.
We had lots of complaints about that.
Also not contributing to the forum
receiving spam etc etc.
Thats why also all the posting below 50 are moderated, lots in wrong forums  , wrong language, spam or otherwise...

But there is a rule also that if a new member becomes active he or she can ask a upgrade and can do all the above things.
So please understand this all, We are trying to make a forum where lots of things are explained and every member can benefit on.

I'm in India right now and very busy the next days, try to read the forum as much as I can
Thanks

Hi Pieter,

I fully understand the policy about not letting new members SEND pm's. But as I wrote above, I have received a PM from someone that I'm not able to read.
So my question is still valid, is it supposed to be like that? The person who sent me that PM is probably wondering why I'm rudely not answering the PM.

Cheers, Daniel

I agree it's not nice the rules changed with the move to the new forum, but if u communicate there is a lot possible. Just ask a moderator and you'll see.

I agree it's strange to block seeing a pm, but think it's better to block a whole service than a part of it because it brings miscommunication. It's a pain in the ass you can see there is a message and cannot open it.
