Consumer devices (e.g. washing machine) switched remotely?

Post by rabarberski »

Hello,

Is someone aware of certain consumer devices (for example washing machine, coffee machine, etc.) that have an interface build-in to switch them on/off remotely? The interface could be X10, Zigbee, USB, ethernet etc.

The alternative would be to use a switchable power block, but I am curious about devices having support build-in.

My new washing machine should be Miele@Home ready, although I have no clue yet of wat 'ready' means. With it you should be able to control it, but I don't think you can switch the machine off completely.

I don't have it (yet) myself, but as far as I understand plugwise is perfect for this.
