using modem for monitoring incoming call phone numbers

Post by s8utt »

Hello, Ive been looking into using my laptops built in modem to monitor incoming phone numbers

opend hyperterminal and could communicate with the modem using AT commands.
turned on Caller Display using AT+VCID=1 got the OK command back

when the phone rings I only get a series of RING commands sent back, no phone numbers.

The modem in question is Conexant Intl HSFi V92 MiniPCI modem

I'm guessing that everything is working ok, but the modem just doesn't support caller id ?

Anyone know if there is something else I can try ? before I look at getting a new modem.

many thanks

The Conexant D480 MDC V.92 modem in my Dell Latitude D505 does not recognise DTMF (it does see the ringtone).

Tornado SFM56.0-E works great. Extern modem, Serial, 9k6. DTMF on Analog Public Switching Telephone Network (KPN).
