newcomer - new flat

Post by bojkic »

Hi guys,

I've been following this forum for some time now and it has been a valuable resource of information. I wanted to automate my home for years, but somehow it slipped away every time.
Now I am getting a brand new flat, which is still being built(will be completed in 9 months), and I have firmly decided that I want to implement home automation. After reading about different technologies Z-Wave became a logical choice.
What I want to do: control lights, control heating and airconditioning, control appliances, online access, ...
I really like QEES products, however they are still not available. When will those be available? Also had a look on Merten products, but the prices are a bit too high.
This is what I came up as a starter kit form my flat:
- duewi dimmer x 10 http://www.ezhome.nl/schakelaars/inbouw ... immer.html
- duewi for appliances x 5 http://www.ezhome.nl/schakelaars/inbouw ... elaar.html
- duewi for blinds x 6 http://www.ezhome.nl/schakelaars/inbouw ... elaar.html
- ACT Homepro ZIR010 motion sensor x3
- Express Controls EZMotion motion, temperature, light sensor x3
- qees power x3
- qees powerstrip x2
- merten Connect radiator control x5
- smoke detector

I still cannot decide on main control interface. vera 2, homeseer?

OK, what do you guys think of this configuration? Are all of these compatible? Am I missing something? Do you have any suggestions?

Hi.

First QEES products should arrive to Denmark around new year. I don't know if they are sold already. :-| Maybe they are sold to a Dutch web shop. :-)
I like the Duewi products, I have tried.
ZIR010 is a OK product.
EZmotion is a good product. The 3 functions can be at bit tricky.
QEES power will be a new version soon. No one have tried the new ones yet, I think.
QEES Powerstrip will come in 2 versions. One with 1 relay and one with 5 relays. I don't think anyone have tried it yet.
Flex-Control has a Smoke detector (rebranded Everspring).
I own a Vera. I don't use it. That's the polite version. :-) My hopes are for QEES Smartgate. But we will see, when time comes.

Regards

I have moste of the selected product in my system.
Most of them works well.
Everspring can also be used for power measurement. Quality of Everspring is at the moment better the the old Qees version
see my review.

If you are not going to use the Merten control pannel you can better go for the Danfoss version.
Only different is special control part for the Merten control pannel.
Danfoss review.

If Domotica is going to be you hobby you can better go for Homeseer.

Feel free to contact me if you have more questions

thank you both for the answers and help... I have searched the web and found duewi products for 30-40 euros and that is a bit cheaper than others. That is why I choose duewi as a big part of my kit.

I think I will go with homeseer, because it offers more possibilities and my computer is always on. I have to choose z-wave usb then. any suggestions?

@tane: When it comes to heat regulators, I thought danfloss version is proprietary and only controllable by danfloss thermostat. If that is not the case I will get Danfloss.
I will consider everspring plugins instead of qees power. :D And I will be following your blog ;)

again, thank you!!! If I come up with any other quetions, I will ask here
