In my garage* in a large appartmentbuilding (too far away for X10 signals via 230V or standard X10 RF devices to reach my RFXcom receiver in my appartment) I have installed a Conrad GX106 SMS module to monitor if the garage door is open or closed. The Conrad GX106 SMS module sends a SMS to my cellphone either when garage is open or closed. Also I can open or close my garagedoor by sending a SMS message to a relais on the Conrad GX106 SMS module.
This module has 4 more relais outputs which can be controlled by sending SMS messages. I would like to use these relais outputs in combination with a RFXcom transmitter (installed in my garage next to the GX106 module) to send X10 codes from my garage to my HA system in my appartment and have e.g. the heating system turned on or switch on my oven so when I arrive I can put my pizza in a pre-heated oven.
1) Is the range of RFXcom transmitter better than standard X10 RF devices like remotecontroles ect??
2) Is it possible to configure a RFxcom transmitter in such a way that it sends a X10 signal if a relais contact is opened or closed and would this work with 4 different relay contacts?
*Why so complicated and have this GX106 installed in my garage: now I only have to use one RF transmitter to send X10 signals from the garage to my HA set-up. If the GX106 is installed next to my HA system in my appartement I have to sent X10 signals to my garage to close or open the garagedoor and I have to send X10 signals form my garage to see if the gargedoor is open or closed (so I would need a extra X10 transmitting device)

Re: RFXcom transmitter and GX106 SMS module
Depends how far and how many walls are in between, but I think it wont work!
And the rfxcom transmitter is based on USB or Ethernet
Its better to install something else in your home and operate them seperate, or buy another GSM module.
btw: I dont know your complete setting

Re: RFXcom transmitter and GX106 SMS module
Pieter, thanks for the reply.
My setup is controlled by Home Controle Assistant and RFXcom receiver. The distance between my garage and my appartement is about sixty metres and I have to pass two concrete floors. Anyway, from your reply I understand that besides the distance also controlling a RFXcom transmitter in a kind of standalone mode is not possible. I will continue my search for another solution.

And X10 powerline or just run a cable to the garage?
