Got Hacked?

Post by Richard »

Hi Pieter,

A few minutes ago i went to domoticaforum.eu and i see a "Hacked" picture on my screen with the message that the forum is down.

Is somebody hacking this forum? or something else? All the pages were pointing at
http://www.domoticaforum.eu/down.asp

Hi Guy's
Richard was right!
Early bird Bert reported to me this morning the forum was hacked!
Lucky for us it's a friendly hacker with no intentions to delete or do harm.
The forum was down because I had to fix the leak which I did.
I automatic backup every day the data so no worries
Had some meetings today, thats why the forum was up later then planned. And had to do some modifications!
Thanks all
Regards Pieter

Can you explain what was the security breach, so we might learn how to better protect our sites as well?

Hi Carlos,
Nothing to to with the IIS but with the forum code. I had to make some changes in the ASP forum code regarding sessions/cookies Special for this Snitz forum. Don't want to get in there because of giving the hackers more info :-) The forum is not running on my own server line Bwired but on a remote server. If you want more info you can PM me always!

Thanks Pieter.
You know how us programmers are always curious about how to better protect our stuff. :)
But ok, it had to do with sessions/cookies. Was wondering if it had been an SQL injection or something like that.
