i knew this wasn't new. but it got me thinking about my mailbox again. i don't have the option of running a wire down there. (live in an appartement, first floor) i am wondering what could bridge the distance was thinking about xbee but i am afraid it wont make it. do all you guy's have a wire running to the mailbox "sensor"?
Re: mailbox mailer
A sub-1GHZ transmitter will be better for long range, a Visonic sensor perhaps. Wireless

Re: mailbox mailer
MCT-100 for example. Or a modified MCT-302 primary contact (replace the reed switch with something else), or the 2nd input (screw terminals) of a MCT-302.
