Hi there,
I'm considering using DS90's with Domotiga to sense opening and closing of all of the doors and windows in a home (up to 30) but its not clear to me how the addressing works. Will I have enough unique addresses and how do the sensors get their unique addresses? Marmitek tell me that addressing is done through handshaking, but do I need a central wireless security system for the handshaking to work or do the DS90's handshake with eachother?
Any insights appreciated.

Re: Marmitek DS90 addressing
After placing the battery in the DS90 the sensor will get a random id.
When using a W800 the sensor will report a unique address between 0 and 255
When using the RFXCOM receiver the sensor will report a unique address between 0 and 65535
Visonic sensors have a fixed id. The RFXCOM receiver will report a unique address between 0 and 16777215

Re: Marmitek DS90 addressing
Thank you very much for your reply. Just to clarify:
Does the RFXCOM receiver ensure that the address of the DS90 is unique? For example, if I place the battery in one DS90 it will get an address. If I then place a battery in another one, will the RFXCOM receiver ensure that the new DS90 has a different address to the first one?
Does that mean that RFXCOM can support 65536 DS90 devices simultaneously, i.e., it assigns each device a unique 16-bit address? Or, does it mean that RFXCOM can support 65536 X-10 devices simultaneously?
Do you have a link to the Visonic sensors that you mentioned (sorry, I'm new here).
Thank you very much for your help!

The DS90 will assign itself a random ID.
Because the sensor will assign a random number between 0 and 65536 the risk that 2 sensor will get the same ID is very very low.
I suppose you do not need more than 20 DS90 sensors so no problem. In the very seldom case a DS90 gets the same ID as another DS90 simple remove and insert the battery and it will get another ID.
The SD90 smoke detectors have a fixed ID and up to 15 different addresses can be selected.
Search for Visonic PowerMax sensors on marktplaats.nl
or for example http://www.becu.nl/offerten/prijzenpowermax.htm

Re: Marmitek DS90 addressing
Thank you for getting back to me again.
Apologies, I still don't fully understand. Why are there only 256 addresses available with the W800 and so many more with the RFXCOM receiver?
It sounds like communication is only one-way, is that correct?
Thanks!

The W800 receives only 32 bits while the RFXCOM receives the full X10 security packet including the additional ID code.
These security sensors are 1-way.
