new to z-wave, have 3 trivial questions

Post by 1021 »

Hello

1.Is it possible to convert already installed Aeon Labs Z-Stick-S2-US version to European version/standards?
(I've moved to Europe recently and the price of the new Stick is about $130,I hope to convert the one I have)
if not do I have to uninstall the current US one and install the EU new one, I'm guessing it's not a plug and play device!
2.On the Aeon products web page: "Updates - Windows Static Library (5.02 P3 EU") is this what I would hope firmware update?
If not where can I get one (EU firmware)?
3.What is the best solution for the Z-Wave controller in the European market?
Apology for the trivial questions, I'm new to z-wave
Thanks for any help

You must have an NEW,European 868,42 MHz Aeon labs stick.

I suspect that you will have to get a new Aeon Z-wave Stick, frequency differences (U.S. vs Europe) are usually hardware related, not software/firmware.

In this forum/Europe, the Aeon stick is also a favorite, you should be able to find the Euro version relatively easily online.
an overview of links in Netherlands is http://www.domoticalinks.nl/

Z-wave Controller: a favorite of many forum members is Homeseer. Another is Vera (http://www.micasaverde.com. Homeseer is software, easily downloadable and Vera can easily be bought online in Europe (with European frequencies).

Good luck

Thanks for the replay and the info

one more question remaining
do I have to uninstall the existing US Stick, and install the new one,if yes how?
or is it just as easy as unplugging the US Stick from the USB port and plug in the Euro one

I guess I was not specific, enough my fault

My question is not about z-wave protocol or HS vs Aeon Labs USB Stick set up. All I'm trying to ask is whether or not, the US vs EU version of the stick are interchangeable.

In my case if I had previously installed US version can I just unplugged and plug the EU one, hopping that everything would magically work with my new EU z-wave devices, without changing any drivers, com ports etc for the new EU Stick?
