RFXPower and Solar panels

Post by yjb »

Hi,

Finally got my solarpanels installed. When looking at the RFXPower output it appears to me that RFXPower has no clue about the direction of the current? e.g. When my meter is running backwards the reported power usage still seems to increase.

Is my observation correct, anything that I can adjust?

Thanks,

Ysbrand

That's correct the RFXMeter does not detect the direction of the current flow.
A second power module connected to the solarpanel enables you to see the solar panel output. Subtract this from the total value measured.

Thanks for your answer.

Adding another Power module is not an option, as my board has already 3 modules. I will probably monitor the inverter and use those numbers.

You can also buy an Emon board and use that for your solar panels power readout.

It can see power usage, power income, temp measuring, etc. The only problem now is that it wordks with html5 and hstouch does not work with html5 yet.

Hi Ysbrand,

What type of inverter do you use?

Hi, I'm using a SMA 2100TL and collect the data with smatool over bluetooth. http://weather.westerkerkweg.nl/solar-graphs.php
