Do you have, and would you like to share the schematics for reading the electricity meter blinking LED with the 1-wire counter device (DS2423). I saw a schematic in this forum utilizating a reflective LED for spinning disk meters. What changes are needed for the blinking LED?
I am very inexperienced with electronics, but know the basics. (Software is what I do).

I don't know how Finnish fuse cabinets look like, but another option could be using a DIN-rail mountable KWh-meter with S0-interface, like this:

The S0-interface can be used as input for a (1-Wire) counter like the DS2423.

Hi Digit,
Cool stuff, affordable and for a little bit more it is callibrated ( E 140) precission is class 1, which is I believe indentical to the meter supplied by your local utility company. I think this could be a good alternative instead of counting led flashes.

I actually have an S0 output on my meter. I don't really know where the connector is and I don't dare to open the box since it is a property of the electricity company. I'll ask my electrician if I can access the output without opening the box too much (it's sealed).
Another thing is that the resolution is much lower on the S0 than the LED's resolution. The S0 gives 500 impulses/kWh and the led 10000 impulses/kWh. I probably don't need that kind of resolution, but still it would be nicer with the higher resolution.
(The meter is an Enermet E420, http://www.enermet.com/en/metering/fact ... _Sheet.pdf. I can't find any details on the output locations.)

Did you use S0 or the LED when reading watt usage of your Emernet E420? I live in Vasa and have the exact same meter here.
