Rfxcom via usb hub
I'm working with a vera lite, which already has the usb port in use due to a smart meter usb cable. Im interested in a Rfxcom. I know you can use a usb hub with the vera, but since i only can configure one usb port on the vera, would it work to have a rfxcom receiver and a smart meter cabel via a usb hub?

Re: Rfxcom via usb hub
I suppose the VERA follows the USB standard and it should be possible to connect more USB devices using an USB hub.
The FTDI driver will assign a COM port.
Contact RFXCOM sales to see if a try&buy option is available.

I now see the serial port config is different. The smart meter cable needs 9600 baud and the rfxcom 38400.

Each USB port can have a different usage, including a different baud rate.

I understand that, but i only have one on the vera, so even if i would add a hub would that work?
Clear, but i only have one in my vera, r will the usb hub handle this?

repeated message: I suppose the VERA follows the USB standard and it should be possible to connect more USB devices using an USB hub.
The FTDI driver will assign a COM port.
The function of an USB hub is to extend the number of USB ports.
Use a powered USB hub. Do not use an USB hub powered by the VERA because the VERA is not able to power a lot of USB devices like RFXtrx433 and the smart meter.

Yup and I can confirm it works for me but I have both a P1 serial and a RFXtrx433 connected to a Linux box via a USB-hub, I'm pretty sure the Vera is probably some sort of Linux appliance itself though. linuxjournal.com/magazine/control-your- ... casa-verde so yes it should work fine.b_weijenberg wrote: The function of an USB hub is to extend the number of USB ports.

The Vera is Linux for sure, they even state so on the website.sj3fk3 wrote: Yup and I can confirm it works for me but I have both a P1 serial and a RFXtrx433 connected to a Linux box via a USB-hub, I'm pretty sure the Vera is probably some sort of Linux appliance itself though.
Source code is also available for the linux distribution they are running (openWRT)
