looking for heavy duty dimmer

Post by cooledspirit »

Hi,

does anybody know a dimmer capable of dimming lights up to 500 Watt with STATUS REQUEST possibility (meaning that the dimmer tells you in what state it is, and how it is dimmed ? [?]

If I understood correctly, having a light up to 500 Watt means your dimmer needs to have a higher capacity (double?) ? [:0]

I found the PLCBUS dimmer (some X10/A10 variant), which can manage up to 400 Watt. It can tell you the status, alas, it's only 400 Watt.

Suggestions or help is highly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Don't forget that PLCBUS is a completely different protocol.
See http://www.domoticaforum.eu/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1155 for more information about PLCBUS.

Thanks for the input. To avoid confusion : the dimmer does NOT need to be PLCBUS, it's just an EXAMPLE ! I'm looking for a good alternative (no matter what system), the power of the dimmer is the most important topic !

Hi Cooled Spirit,

How about this Xanura (A10/X10) device then?

http://www.waakzaamwonen.nl/catalog/pro ... w-modulair

700 Watt, modular.

(But now I think of it: it's an older Xanura module, so it may not support status request...)

Hi Lennart, thanks for your help, but indeed : it does not support status request.
